RCMP confirmed today that a 46-year-old Lac du Bonnet man was killed Thursday morning while working on the decommissioning of the Whiteshell Laboratories near Pinawa.
Details on the accident or the identity of the dead man have not been released.
The accident is being investigated by the RCMP and Human Resources Canada, the federal agency that has jurisdiction over the site.
Ottawa provided $130 million to Atomic Energy of Canada Limited, which owns the Whiteshell facility, to speed-up the decommissioning and demolition of the 50-year-old research facility.
