Mayor Sam Katz chats with cyclists Bev Peters, right, and Barb Janes after announcing Bike to Work Day is Friday, June 20.

Katz plans to cycle to work that Friday. So far, so do Couns. Gord Steeves (St. Vital), Justin Swandel (St. Norbert), Jenny Gerbasi (Fort Rouge), Mike Pagtakhan (Point Douglas), Scott Fielding (St. James) and Russ Wyatt (Transcona).

The city plans to spend slightly more than $3 million this year on new bike trails and new bike lanes on streets.
