Police are warning the public about methadone that was stolen Saturday night from a man in the North End.
The 59-year-old man was walking with a woman on Magnus Avenue, between Charles and Aikins streets, when two men came up behind him, hit him with a metal pipe, and robbed him, police said.
The men took liquid methadone during the robbery, and police warned that consuming the drug - alone or with alcohol - could cause serious injury or death.
The victim was treated in hospital for his injuries, said police.
The robbers are described as being aboriginal in appearance, in their early or mid-20s, clean-shaven and thin. One had baggy pants and a blue shirt, said police, and the second was wearing jeans and a T-shirt.
Division 13 are investigating the robbery and assault.
