Bombers add two QBs

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers bullpen of quarterback arms just got a little deeper.

The Bombers, confirming what The Free Press has reported over the last few weeks, added two more pivots to their training camp roster with the signings of Bryan Randall and Cleve McCoy. Both are expected to be on the field for the opening of Bomber rookie camp next Wednesday and main camp on Sunday, June 1st.

Randall (6-1, 218) is the more familiar name of the two QBs, not only because he starred at Virginia Tech University before bouncing around the National Football League, but because he has been on the Bomber negotiation list since May of 2004.

After a solid collegiate career with the Hokies, Randall, 24, has had cups of coffee with the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers and was supposed to play in the All-American Football League this year before that loop went belly up and folded.

McCoy (6-2, 213) is an intriguing prospect who started two seasons at South Carolina State. He started 11 games last year throwing for 12 touchdowns while rushing for 823 yards and six more scores and is such an exceptional athlete had a tryout offer from the New Orleans Saints — as a receiver.

McCoy, who instantly impressed Bomber brass when they first studied his game film, opted instead to sign with the Bombers to continue to work on his quarterback craft.
