Province unveils plan for green awards

The Manitoba government is trying to go green and they want to reward you for helping.

The Manitoba Round Table for Sustainable Development is accepting nominations for the 2008 Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Awards, said Conservation Minister Stan Struthers this morning. The awards honour Manitobans and Manitoba-based companies and organizations who are making, "significant contributions to a sustainable and prosperous" province.

"The Manitoba Excellence in Sustainability Awards will showcase individual and collective efforts that are helping Manitoba remain a leader in sustainable development," Struthers said in statement.

Awards will be presented for action on climate change, air quality and energy efficiency, education for sustainability, research and innovation for sustainability and outstanding achievement in sustainability, among others.

The deadline for nominations is noon June 27.
