John Mohan’s ride ended in a humourous fashion, but his message was a serious one.

Siloam Mission’s John Mohan, right, and David Dyck both rode from Calgary to Winnipeg to raise money for the Mission, finishing the 1,300 km trip at the Winnipeg city limits at Headingley.
Mohan, CEO of the Siloam Mission, today ended a 1,307-kilometre ride from Calgary to Winnipeg, dubbed My Mid-Life Crisis.
“The best part is definitely getting home,” Mohan said. “Being here and seeing friends and family. And yet there’s an irony in that. I’m home, and yet I’ve come home to work with our homeless who don’t all get to say that.”
On his cycling journey, Mohan raised over $70,000 for the homeless, with the funds going to the Mission’s food, emergency shelter, employment training, and health services.
Mohan, who recently turned 50, sped into Headingley wearing a red cycling shirt, on a red bike. So as a suitable reward for completing his mid-life crisis journey, the mission employees arranged for him to take a spin in a shiny, red Corvette from CAPS International Inc.
“I’d like to say that my mid-life crisis is over,” said Mohan.
