Michelle Wie to play at CN Canadian Women's Open

TORONTO -- According to the latest issue of Golf World magazine, Michelle Wie will play next month's CN Canadian Women's Open at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.

Golf World reporter Ron Sirak said yesterday that an LPGA source told him that Wie will play. The Wie camp gave the LPGA a heads-up so that it could prepare security.

The 18-year-old draws big crowds despite difficulties with her game the last 18 months.

CN Canadian Women's Open tournament director Sean Van Kesteren was surprised when informed of the Golf World story.

"We've offered her an exemption," Van Kesteren told the Globe and Mail. "But we haven't had a firm commitment."
