TORONTO -- Air Canada is cancelling or scaling back service on four more routes in its quest to cut up to 2,000 jobs.

On Oct. 26, Toronto-Madrid service will be dropped for the winter, and daily flights on the Vancouver-Beijing and Vancouver-Shanghai routes will be trimmed to three and four times a week respectively.
In addition, Air Canada is scaling back flights between Toronto and Tel Aviv from five per week to three.
Last Monday, the carrier announced suspensions and cancellations affecting 12 routes, including the dropping of Hamilton-Montreal and Hamilton-Ottawa service effective July 31, as well as Vancouver-Sacramento on Oct. 25.
To cope with soaring fuel costs, Air Canada announced last month it will slash its workforce and cut its capacity by 7 per cent.
Air Canada says if fuel costs remain steady, its 2008 fuel bill will be $1 billion higher than last year.
