A 34-year-old man is in stable condition with injuries to his upper body after he was assaulted by two men early yesterday morning in the 700 block of Main Street.
The male victim was with a 42-year-old woman who stopped the assault by flagging down a passing motorist. She was also assaulted but did not require medical attention.
Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident and are facing assault charges. One of the suspects is also facing three counts of fail to comply with the conditions of a recognizance.
Both suspects have been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
