Winnipeggers who work downtown now have the finest Canadian art at their fingertips.
Mayberry Fine Art of Winnipeg is launching a digital gallery underground today near Portage and Main in the Shops of Winnipeg Square. The gallery says the concept is unique in Canada.
The digital showcase features almost 2,000 works by Canada’s finest artists, including Wanda Koop and Joe Fafard.
Mayberry’s satellite location uses touchscreen technology which puts the gallery’s inventory of contemporary and historical Canadian artworks in reach of people who pass by everyday.
It is located directly under the Commodity Exchange Tower at 360 Main, across from the Square’s information kiosk and the corridor that leads to the Fort Street Entrance.
The public can use the digital gallery for free to view Mayberry’s collectiosn of paintings and scuplure on a 32 inch LCD monitor. Biographies of the artists and 100 Canadian masters are archived. The system allows users to email specific images of the works to others.
