Teen killed in crash south of Dugald

A 17-year-old girl died Tuesday afternoon when a pickup truck hit a telephone pole beside Highway 206 south of Dugald.

Oakbank RCMP say a pickup truck with two occupants was northbound on Hwy 206 when it struck the pole.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. She was from the RM of Springfield. Police said her name wouldn't be released.

A female passenger was transported to hospital by STARS Air Ambulance with undetermined injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours while officials, including an RCMP collision analyst, investigated the crash.

Dugald is about 20 kilometres east of Winnipeg.
