Winnipeggers ease burden of losing scooter

KEVIN O'Leary lost his scooter in a van theft, but Winnipeggers who heard his story have made sure he won't lose money because of it. Early Wednesday morning, the scooter was stolen from a locked van outside O'Leary's Elm Park Road home.

The insured scooter is worth about $1,700. O'Leary has mobility issues due to multiple sclerosis. After his story was published in the Free Press, HOT 103 publicized O'Leary's plight and donations came in from Booster Juice locations around the city.

"It's awesome," said O'Leary. "It just makes things an awful lot easier."

Public donations worth $750 were collected through Winnipeg Booster Juice locations. And then the Booster Juice head office in Edmonton donated $1,000. The money is to go to paying off O'Leary's $500 deductible and anything that needs fixing.
