Airport campus to get Marriott hotel

There’s going to a third hotel built on the bustling Winnipeg airport campus.

Two young developers from Toronto are building a $20-million Courtyard by Marriott on a surface parking lot on the eastern side of the airport within walking distance of the new terminal.

The 120-room, six-storey property will feature cutting-edge design elements from the 11th-largest hotel chain in the world.

Construction is to begin in the new year for occupancy by the spring or summer of 2014.

With two other hotels at the airport, including Lakeview Management’s Grand Hotel which is under construction, it will mean there will be close to 500 rooms right on the airport property.
