Boeing Canada's Winnipeg plant is expanding to build a large new aircraft part that will help reduce noise emissions for the 737 MAX by 40 per cent.
The 150,000 square foot expansion will grow the plant to 665,000 square feet, a 22 per cent increase.
Already the largest composites manufacturing facility in Canada, the Boeing Winnipeg plant will construct the one-piece composite acoustic inner barrel for the engine inlet for the latest 737 model.
Boeing now has more than 1,600 employees in Winnipeg, the largest level in its history in Winnipeg dating back to the early '70s.
