'Downtown Peggy' wins award

Downtown Peggy, the social media character who promotes Winnipeg’s core, has won a marketing award.

The character, who blogs, tweets and Facebooks about downtown events and attractions, won the award from the International Downtown Association during its annual conference last month.

The initiative of the Downtown BIZ won the award in the marketing and communication category.

Peggy has more than 3,300 Twitter followers and her website gets 5,000 hits a month.
