FP Canadian Newspapers acquires Carberry News Express

FP Canadian Newspapers Limited Partnership (FPLP), owners of the Winnipeg Free Press, the Brandon Sun and several other community newspapers in Manitoba is in the process of completing the acquisition of the Carberry News Express.

The 125-year-old weekly newspaper has a circulation of approximately 1,100.

Eric Lawson, publisher of the Brandon Sun, will be responsible for overseeing the business once the acquisition is completed which is expected to be before the end of October.

Bob Cox, publisher of the Free Press, said, "We believe in newspapers. The Carberry paper was available and we thought it would fit well with our Brandon operation."

The paper will be printed at Derksen Printers in Steinbach, which is also owned by FPLP.
