WINNIPEG — New-house prices are starting to climb again after several months of little or no change.
Statistics Canada said today the new housing price index for Winnipeg rose by 0.4 per cent in February. That followed a 0.1 per cent gain in January, no change in December, and increases of 0.1 per cent and 0.2 per cent in October and November respectively.
StatsCan said Winnipeg was one of 12 Canadian cites to see an increase in new-home prices in February. Five others saw no change and another four saw prices decline by between 0.1 per cent and 0.5 per cent.
Nationally, Canada’s price index rose by 0.3 per cent. That followed a 0.1 per cent gain in January.
