Website encourages Winnipeggers to move downtown

WINNIPEG — A new website has been launched to encourage more people to move downtown.

The website, www.myplaceisdowntown.com, is designed as a one-stop shop for information about the 1,100 new condominiums and 650 new apartments that are available, under construction, or in the works in downtown Winnipeg.

The site also offers information about various downtown amenities, as well as things like where to find parking and where you can buy groceries, said Signy Gerrard, manager of marketing and communications for the Downtown Winnipeg Business Improvement Zone.

The website is a joint initiative of the Downtown Winnipeg BIZ, the Exchange District BIZ and CentreVenture Development Corp., the city’s arm’s-length downtown development agency.

The three agencies unveiled the new marketing initiative this morning at a news conference at District Condos, a 15-unit warehouse conversion project that Qualico’s Streetside Development Corp. recently completed at 133 Market Ave.

Seven of the 15 one- and two-bedroom units in the three-storey building have been sold so far.
