Winnipeg Airports Authority wins special event award

Airports Council International (ACI) has awarded Winnipeg Airports Authority first place in the special events category for its annual North Pole Express flight.

The 2009 Excellence in Marketing and Communications Contest attracted nearly 250 entries from 62 airports or their airport authorities.

Children from the community have been taking the North Pole Express flight from Richardson International Airport for six years. Last year’s flight was made possible due to the generosity of the airport and its Goldwing Ambassadors, Signature Vacations and Skyservice Airlines pilots and crew, 220 Squadron Cadets, International Airline Services, Dryden Airservice, NavCanada, Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, HOT103, Fehr Way Tours and Beaver Bus Lines, Perkins Restaurants, Pizza Hotline, HMS Host, Dairyland, Assiniboine Park Zoo and Coca-Cola.
