Feds, province partner to extend Growing Forward farm innovation program

The federal and provincial governments have come up with the extension to the Growing Forward support program for innovation in the farm sector and have committed to spend $175 million over the next five years on Manitoba.

In addition, federal agriculture minister Gerry Ritz said Ottawa has made up to $3 billion available over five years across the country for the ag sector.

In Manitoba, provincial agriculture minister Ron Kostyshyn said the first cost-shared initiative is focused on beneficial management practices on the farm to improve sustainability.
