Barns demolished on Ontario farm expropriated for CFB Trenton expansion

  • Print

TRENTON, Ont. - Demolition crews have torn down barns on an expropriated eastern Ontario farm near CFB Trenton.

Protesters had set up camp in January when demolition was initially slated to start at Frank Meyers' farm, but none were present on Wednesday.

The 86-year-old farmer was visibly upset as the barns and silos came down.

The land was expropriated by the federal government to expand CFB Trenton.

The new section of the base will be used for a special forces unit, JTF2, which will be moved from its current location in Dwyer Hill, south of Ottawa.
