Bell, union reach deal

  • Print

OTTAWA -- The union representing clerks and other employees at Bell Canada has approved a new collective agreement by slightly more than half of the vote.

The agreement spans 4.5 years and was approved by 53.5 per cent of members.

The deal includes wage increases of 8.25 per cent over the term of the contract and full-time jobs for at least 100 part-time employees.

Wages will increase annually by 1.5 per cent, 1.75 per cent, two per cent, two per cent and one per cent in the last six months.

Bargaining between Bell Canada and members of the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union began in April, after the previous contract expired at the end of May.

The Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union represents roughly 6,000 clerks and associated workers at Bell in Ontario and Quebec.
