Winnipeg Free Press - ONLINE EDITION

In the Plex

Most everyone is familiar with and has used Google, but few know of its fascinating growth journey. Author Steven Levy provides a detailed account of how Google got started, how it has grown through creativity and "contrarian" thinking and how it is attempting to meet the new challenge of social media head on. Levy also shares Google’s secret to making money and how it has succeeded in dealing with Internet issues such as lawsuits for invasion of privacy as well as how the moral dilemma in China was managed. I found the book to be overly detailed, but since it introduces all of the character’s involved in the computer world, information technology folks will enjoy this as a good read.
