Neepawa pork producer, union reach tentative agreement

Negotiators for unionized workers at Springhill Farms in Neepawa have reached a tentative agreement.

A spokesman for Local 832 United Food and Commercial Workers said details on the offer will be presented to union members Feb. 8 and a ratification vote will be held Feb. 9.

The 500 unionized members at Springhill Farms voted 98 per cent in favour of strike action January 13 and negotiatiors for both sides reached a deal late last week.

The pork processing facility handles about 3,650 hogs a day.
