Today -- in Ottawa, Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney participates in a discussion at the Canadian Council of Chief Executives conference "Canada in the Pacific Century." In Toronto, Hanfeng Evergreen Inc., a leading provider of value-add fertilizers in China and South East Asia, holds a conference call to discuss fourth-quarter and year-end earnings.
Tuesday -- in Ottawa, Statistics Canada releases the retail trade figures for July. In San Jose BlackBerry Jam Americas, formerly BlackBerry DevCon, takes place with CEO Thorsten Heins delivering the keynote speech. Through Sept. 27. In New York the Conference Board releases the consumer confidence index for September.
Wednesday -- in Toronto, AGF Management reports third quarter earnings before markets open, followed by conference call at 11 a.m. In Washington, the U.S. Commerce Department releases new home sales for August.
Thursday -- in Ottawa, Statistics Canada releases the payroll employment, earnings and hours for July. In Waterloo, Ont., Research in Motion Ltd. releases second-quarter results after markets close followed by a conference call. In Washington, the U.S. Labor Department releases weekly jobless claims, Commerce Department releases durable goods for August and second-quarter gross domestic product.
Friday -- In Ottawa, Statistics Canada releases the gross domestic product by industry for July and national tourism indicators for the second quarter. In Washington, the U.S. Commerce Department releases personal income and spending for August
