Miners riot in Madrid

Six demonstrators were hospitalized after police fired rubber bullets. Police made seven arrests, and two officers were injured.
The miners detonated deafening fireworks as they marched, then hurled them at the police riot vans guarding the headquarters of th Industry Ministry, which oversees the mining industry.
StandardAero signs deal
STANDARDAERO, the global gas turbine engine repair company based in Winnipeg, has signed an exclusive long-term service agreement with Brit Air to do the maintenance, repair and overhaul work on the GE engines from its fleet of about 40 Canadair regional jets.
StandardAero will do the work on the CF34-8C5A1 and CF34-8C5B1 engines on Brit Air's fleet of Bombardier CRJ1000 regional jets and a selected number of its CRJ700s.
The Brit Air work will be done out of StandardAero's 162,000-square-foot facility in Winnipeg.
San Francisco cuts Apple
SAN FRANCISCO -- Apple's withdrawal from an environmental ratings registry has prompted at least one city -- San Francisco -- to stop buying its computers.
The decision does not apply to iPads or iPhones. But Francis Tsang, spokesman for Mayor Edwin Lee's office, said the city's rules require laptops, computers and monitors comply with registry requirements.
Late last month, Apple Inc. told the non-profit EPEAT, short for Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool, to remove its products from its registry.
TMX takeover cleared
TORONTO -- The Maple Group Acquisition Corp. cleared its last major regulatory hurdles Wednesday in its takeover of the TMX Group Inc. (TSX:X) as B.C. and Alberta securities regulators agreed to the deal.
Maple Group -- a consortium of some 12 Canadian pension funds, banks and insurers -- said it has agreed to the terms of those orders, which focused on the TSX Venture Exchange, which B.C. and its Alberta counterpart co-regulate, along with Alberta's concerns about the Natural Gas Exchange.
"We now strongly urge TMX Group shareholders to deposit and tender their shares to our offer before it expires on July 31," said Maple spokesman Luc Bertrand.
