has joined People First HR Services as an associate. Mays founded The Harris Consulting Corporation, which he owned and operated for 20 years. As a senior consultant at People First, he will focus on helping organizations hire executive talent, manage change, pursue growth and achieve improved organizational performance.

Barry Milne, CGA

has been appointed branch manager for the new Winnipeg office of The Headhunters, a Canadian full service recruitment firm with offices across Western Canada. Milne holds a CGA designation.

Tracey Epp

partner at Pitblado Law, received the Harry Mardon Award for outstanding long-term service from the Manitoba Chamber of Commerce. Epp has been on the MCC board since 2005 and served as a director and as legal counsel.

Brian Feuer, P. Eng.

has been appointed partner with Dillon Consulting Ltd. The Canadian based consulting and engineering company has offices across Canada. Feuer joined the Winnipeg office as building & facilities design practice leader.

Stephen Borys

executive director of Winnipeg Art Gallery, has been elected to the board of directors of the Canadian Museums Association. "The CMA links non-profit galleries, history and art museums, science centres, historic sites, archives, even zoos, right across the country," says Borys.

Howard L Morry and Douglas G Ward

of Pitblado Law have been recognized by Martindale Hubbell-LexisNexis as AV Preeminent, the highest rating in legal standards and ethics. Both Morry and Ward scored 100 per cent in a confidential polling of members of the bar and judiciary.

Jesús Á. Miguel Garca

director of The Spanish Institute, has signed a collaboration agreement with the University of Burgos, Spain, to promote educational programs between Manitoba, Canada and the university.

AWARDS

Janet Robertson

has received the ALS Society of Canada's Sidney Valo Exceptional Fundraising Program Award (individual), for her volunteer contributions to the ALS community in Canada. Robertson is co-owner of the Golf Dome in Winnipeg.

Blaine Parnell

of Gemstar Insurance, received an award at the Insurance Brokers Association of Manitoba annual conference, for achieving the highest average mark in Manitoba for his 2011 Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker exams. This is the third year In a row that Gemstar Insurance has earned this highest mark honour.

Syverson Monteyne Architecture Inc.

has won an Award of Excellence at the 2012 Prairie Design Awards for its design of the Winnipeg Folk Festival's new backstage kitchen - La Cuisine. Syverson Monteyne used repurposed and recycled materials to design this eco-friendly facility that functions as a kitchen during the festival, and a weather-protected storage facility for the remainder of the year.

Kathleen Kirk and Diana Rasmussen

received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal during the The ALS Society of Canada's annual awards Dinner. Kirk contributed to the ALS Society of Manitoba as a former board member, fundraiser and client advocate, while living with ALS. Rasmussen is a past president of ALS Canada and executive director of ALS Manitoba.
