M. Catherine Miller
has been appointed to the position of consultant with STRATA Benefits Consulting Inc. Miller will work with STRATA's team of benefit professionals to design individual group retirement-plan solutions for current and future clients. Her experience includes pension-plan evaluation, plan design, plan funding and cost accounting, preparation of plan documents and plan amendments, administration and governance.
Ed Stojanowski
is now heading Epic Production Technologies' regional sales and integration division serving clients throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan and northwest Ontario. In addition to managing local and regional technical integration projects, Stojanowski will be responsible for sales and client-relations activities throughout the area and will take a leadership role in the overall Epic sales division. Epic's head office is in Winnipeg, with major facilities in Vancouver and Los Angeles.
David Morgan
has been appointed the new practice leader for Stantec's environmental services group. Morgan has more than 25 years in environmental consulting, working for public- and private-sector clients such as Manitoba Hydro, the City of Winnipeg, the City of Edmonton and Simplot Canada. He has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in civil engineering (water resources) from the University of Manitoba and a doctorate in environmental engineering from the University of Illinois.
David Whetter
has been appointed managing leader for Stantec's environmental services group. Whetter has more than 12 years' experience in the environmental sector and is a soil scientist and professional agrologist (P.Ag.) with the Manitoba Institute of Agrologists. As managing leader, he will be responsible for technical and client service excellence, operational efficiency, business planning, allocation of resources and recruiting staff.
George Kroupa
has been appointed an associate at Stantec. Kroupa is a registered forestry technician and GIS expert, with principal focus on environmental-impact assessments, environmental baseline studies, enviro-engineering, environmental protection plans and environmental analytical techniques.
COMPANIES
Bothwell Cheese
has attained Safe Quality Food certification. The SQF certification is a globally recognized designation that assures Bothwell Cheese's products and processes have passed rigorous international standards for food safety and quality. SQF is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative. The process to become certified includes diligent document-process and facility-assessment audits.
The Shelter and Rescue Alliance of Manitoba
has been created to facilitate and support the efforts of local animal-welfare groups to decrease the number of homeless, neglected and abused companion animals and to promote responsible pet ownership by working as a coalition/alliance. Carla Martinelli, of Winnipeg Pet Rescue, has been appointed chairwoman. Darcy Johnston, of Darcy's A.R.C., has been appointed vice-chairman and Susan Williams, of the Winnipeg Humane Society, has been appointed secretary.

The 11th annual Manitoba Aerospace All-Stars Awards of Excellence recipients are: DAO Team (Design Approval Organization) EMTEQ for Excellence in Teamwork. Team members include: Doug Peters, Rui Dias, Ian Stewart, Dominique Duguay and Francois Bechette; Magellan Aerospace Black Brant Rocket Team for Excellence in Technology Development; Rudy Braun, Boeing Canada Operations Ltd., for Excellence in Business Growth and Process Improvements.
The Immigrant Centre
was honoured to present the inaugural Manitoba Immigrant Recognition Awards as part of its 65th anniversary celebration held at Government House. The three recipients were: Mario Santos, presented with the Exceptional Friend award, Fetno Kemo, presented with the Inspiring Newcomer award and the Hon. Philip Lee, presented with the Outstanding Contribution to the Newcomer Community award.
