Madhav Sinha

president of the Canadian Society for Quality, has been appointed guest editor of a special issue of the journal titled Quality Leadership in Healthcare Services. It will be published by Emerald Publishers (U.K.) in July this year, consisting of selected papers from the third and fourth Canadian Quality Congresses that were held at the University of Manitoba and Carleton University, Ottawa, in the last two years. Sinha is a professional engineer and recognized authority in the field of quality management.

Ameena Bajer-Koulack

a third-year environmental science student at the University of Manitoba, is one of only 10 students in Canada to be named a 3M National Student Fellow. The 3M National Student Fellowship Award was introduced in 2012 to honour undergraduate students in Canada who have demonstrated qualities of outstanding leadership and embrace a vision where the quality of their educational experience can be enhanced in academia and beyond.

Renata Meconse

a member of the Pinaymootang First Nation (Fairford), has joined CancerCare Manitoba's First Nation, Métis and Inuit cancer control team as a First Nations, Métis and Inuit engagement liaison. Her role is to work collaboratively between CancerCare MB and serve as a liaison for First Nation, Métis and Inuit communities in Manitoba. She will be assisting communities in event planning, presenting on cancer awareness and prevention, and resources available to communities, cancer patients and families.


CKUW 95.9 FM

has been selected by the National Campus and Community Radio Association to host their 2013 national conference June 11-15 at the University of Winnipeg. The NCRA is a non-profit association of more than 80 organizations committed to volunteer-based, community-oriented radio broadcasting in Canada.

The 2013 Canadian Community Radio Awards will be presented during the conference.

Lorne Weiss

was awarded the CMHC/MREA Distinguished Realtor Award for 2012 at the Manitoba Real Estate Association annual general meeting. He was also elected as the Manitoba regional representative to the Canadian Real Estate Association board of directors for a two-year term.

The Manitoba Chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society

is pleased to announce that Bill Peters, manager of communications with St-Boniface Hospital Research Centre, is the recipient of the 2013 Manitoba Communicator of the Year Award. Peters will be presented the award at a luncheon event on April 17.
