president of the PRHouse is the recipient of the 2014 Wichihéwaywin Award, given to a non-aboriginal person who has contributed substantially to aboriginal education. Muir has been creating documentaries and communications tools for and with aboriginal communities and their leaders; aboriginal businesses and governments for decades. The Wichihéwaywin Award is granted alongside the Knowledge Keepers Award for an aboriginal person who has contributed to education throughout their lifetime. This year it was awarded to Barb and Clarence Nepinak.

has taken on Jaimi Yra Bendo as the successful candidate for their annual summer student program. During her term at the firm, she will be significantly contributing to a variety of projects across Canada under the mentorship and tutelage of experienced architectural professionals. Yra Bendo is a graduate of the faculty of architecture University of Manitoba and is currently pursuing her master's degree at Carleton University.

The Winnipeg Humane Society
recognized the exceptional work of volunteers, sponsors and partners at its annual general meeting: Red River Co-op received the Corporate Supporter Award for their contributions to major fundraising events; the Winnipeg Public Library was awarded the WHS Partnership Award for their work with the See Spot Read program; Margaret Krupa was awarded Outstanding Volunteer Support for her six years of volunteer work; Josée Belanger-Galay awarded the Outstanding Foster; Ace Burpee won the Outstanding Media Support Award. The WHS board also welcomed new members Randy Tonnelier, Christina Semaniuk, treasurer Joanne Dyer and chairman Richard Pope.
