Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,673.73, down 6.08 points):

Twin Butte Energy Ltd. (TSX:TBE). Oil and gas. Down 39 cents, or 17.33 per cent, to $1.86 on 48.1 million shares.

Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. (TSX:ANS). Forest products. Down 30 cents, or 8.70 per cent, to $3.15 on 13.2 million shares. Louisiana-Pacific Corp. has called off its US$1.1-billion deal to buy Ainsworth after regulators required significant asset sales, the companies said Wednesday.

Luna Gold Corp. (TSX:LGC). Miner. Up five cents, or 4.90 per cent, to $1.07 on 9.4 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 40 cents, or 5.12 per cent, to $8.22 on 4.4 million shares.

Osisko Mining Corp. (TSX:OSK). Miner. Up 18 cents, or 2.24 per cent, to $8.20 on 3.6 million shares.

Petrowest Corp. (TSX:PRW). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 0.86 per cent, to $1.17 on 3.4 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (991.74, up 3.39 points):

Red Pine Exploration Inc. (TSXV:RPX) Miner. Down two cents, or 50 per cent, to two cents on 7.02 million shares.

Midlands Minerals Corp. (TSXV:MEX). Miner. Unchanged at three cents on 4.5 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Power Financial Corp. (TSX:PWF). Financial services. Up 22 cents, or 0.63 per cent, to $34.95 on 651,491 shares. The companysays it its first-quarter profits totalled C$467 million or 66 cents per share, up from $394 million, or 55 cents per share, in the same quarter of 2013. Revenues were $10.58 billion compared with $8.15 billion a year ago.

Sears Canada (TSX:SCC). Retailer. Up 54 cents, or 3.43 per cent, to $16.30 on 54,167 shares. U.S. retailer Sears Holdings Corp. is considering selling its 51 per cent interest in Sears Canada as the retailer continues with efforts to turn around its business. Sears Holdings' overall business has been struggling after years of sales declines and it has been closing some unprofitable stores and selling leases in prime locations.
