MTS inks Net-improvement deal

MTS has signed a $100-million deal with the Manitoba government designed to improve Internet services to not only the government but also other public sector organizations.

Under the 10-year contract renewal, the provincial data network will be updated to a "Manitoba Network" that will provide better and faster Internet services.

"MTS and the Manitoba government have a long and significant history of working together to benefit the people of Manitoba and this agreement carries that tradition into the future," MTS president Kelvin Shepherd said in a release.

"Through the agreement the Manitoba government will gain access to the state-of-the-art connectivity it needs to deliver public services today and into the future by leveraging the latest IP technology.''
