Lyndsay Blahut
has joined Canada's Web Shop team as director of Internet marketing. Blahut has several years of advanced web marketing experience, specializing in search engine optimization and web analytics. Her previous position was with WestJet as web business co-ordinator.
David Zinger
of David Zinger Associates has been invited to chair and present at the second annual Employee Engagement Conference in Barcelona at the end of April. In addition, he has founded and hosts the Employee Engagement Network with 1,030 members from around the world. Zinger will be presenting on Beyond Employee Engagement and Engaging with Work, not Roles.
Michelle Freynet
has been appointed by the Commissioner of Official Languages, Graham Fraser, as the commissioner's representative for Manitoba and Saskatchewan. In 1993, Freynet was appointed director of the French section of the Manitoba government's Translation Services Branch. In 2002, she became regional director at the federal Translation Bureau for the Prairies, Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Her new role involves working with federal institutions and communities to ensure that the language rights of the public are fully respected, and to promote the equal status of both official languages. Freynet replaces Denise Lecuyer, who held the position for four years.
Willy Janzen
has been appointed chief financial officer of Buhler Industries, effective March 9. Janzen has been employed with Buhler since 2006, most recently as corporate controller.
Kamla Lambert & Delilah Buchart
have opened My Beautiful Shoes featuring designer shoes for women in Winnipeg straight from fashion runways. Some of the labels they carry include: Christian Lacroix, Donna Karan, Emilio Pucci, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Bo'em, Caligarius, Kenzo and Francesco Sacco. My Beautiful Shoes is located in the Tuxedo Park Shopping Centre at 2025 Corydon Ave.

Protegra
has been recognized as one of this year's Top 75 Best Workplaces in Canada -- ranking No. 3 on the list -- the second year it has been included in the study. This year's list received over 230 nominations and 30,000 employees participated in the 2009 "Best Workplaces in Canada" survey. This distinction comes just three months after Protegra was named No. 1 small and medium business employer in Canada by the Globe & Mail and Queens School of Business. Protegra helps organizations solve business performance and information technology challenges.
Barry E. Prentice
is being awarded with a lifetime membership in the Canadian Transportation Research Forum. Prentice is a professor at the University of Manitoba, a past director of the Transport Institute (1996-2005) and the recipient of two University of Manitoba Outreach Awards (1999, 2003). Prentice was instrumental in founding a major in transportation and logistics within the B.Comm. (Hons.) program at the I. H. Asper School of Business (fall 2003) and the formation of Supply Chain Management Department. He has held numerous offices on the CTRF board of directors, including president in 1997 to 1998. He is a frequent session chair, paper reviewer and contributor with over 50 articles published in the CTRF proceedings. In 1996, Prentice founded an Oxford-style debate, sponsored by Bison Transport, where policy issues are weighed with wit and wisdom each year at the CTRF annual meeting. Prentice is the 21st lifetime member of the CTRF. This honour will be presented at the 44th annual meetings in Victoria May 24 to 27.
McNally Robinson Booksellers
has been named 2008 Manitoba Family Enterprise of the Year by the Canadian Association of Family Enterprise, a non-profit organization. The award was established in 2007 to recognize outstanding business families in Manitoba. The other two finalists include Frontiers North Adventures and Riddell's Roasters. McNally Robinson will go on to represent Manitoba in May in the national competition.
