PRINCESS Auto Foundation is the newest founding sponsor of AssentWorks, the member-driven "makerspace" in downtown Winnipeg.
The foundation has created an account for AssentWorks, allowing it to acquire tools and equipment worth more than $10,000.
The Winnipeg-based specialty hardware chain joins the Eureka Project and Seccuris as founding sponsors.
Located on the third floor of an Adelaide Street warehouse, AssentWorks is a location where people with common interests in product development, inventions, technology and any number of production disciplines can meet, collaborate and access equipment they wouldn't likely be able to afford on their own. It already has more than $250,000 worth of production equipment on site, such as plasma cutters, CNC (computer numerical control) machines and 3-D printers.
AssentWorks founder Michael Legary said Thursday the organization hopes to secure three more core sponsors in the next month.
