Solara to showcase gear at Banff event next week

SOLARA Remote Data Delivery is being given a shot to show off its high-tech gear to potential investors at a prestigious venture capital event in Banff, Alta., next week.

The Banff Venture Forum has accepted Solara to show in its main competition Wednesday after Solara won Innovate Manitoba's 2012 VentureChallenge in June.

The forum allows companies to present entrepreneurial opportunities to potential investors and to build business contacts and relationships, said Tom Tessier, Solara's founder, in a release.

The Banff Venture Forum is Canada's premier company-financing event and is geared toward firms in the information technology, energy and life sciences technology.

Solara manufactures GPS tracking devices and satellite messenger server systems that help monitor worker safety in remote or extreme environments. The Canadian Rangers and mine-exploration crews in African rainforests are among its customers.

VentureChallenge's third-place winner, PB&C Agri-Tech Solutions, will also attend the Banff forum, but not in the main competition, Innovate Manitoba said. The second-place winner, Flatland Software, has chosen to attend the Canadian Financing Forum in Vancouver next February.
