Turning to Twitter

TWITTER has emerged as the platform of choice for information about the political unrest that has gripped Iran.

With international media now banned from the streets of Tehran in the wake of Friday's disputed presidential elections, some Iranians have turned to the popular real-time social networking site to ensure the facts get out.

In 140 characters or less, users are posting their thoughts about Iranian politics and firsthand accounts of violence.
