Bible used to sell hash in prison

RED DEER, Alta. -- Messing with the word of God landed an Alberta prison inmate in trouble.

Police charged a man after a Bible soaked with hash oil was seized at the federal Bowden Institution south of Red Deer.

It's alleged the inmate soaked the pages of the Bible with the hash oil and sold them to other inmates.

Hash oil is a thick liquid made from dissolving hashish or marijuana in solvents.

Raymond McMartin, 29, was charged with drug trafficking.

He is to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Aug. 12 to enter a plea.
