Noted eye surgeon killed in plane crash
The four-seater Piper Malibu took off from the airport in Kamsack around 8:30 p.m. and was heading north when it ran into difficulty, RCMP Cpl. Bill Betker said Monday.
"For some reason it veered and made contact with the ground."
Dr. James Underhill, 50, who worked at the Horizon Laser Vision Centre in Saskatoon, was killed, along with a 63-year-old male passenger.
Two other men who were on board -- a 30-year-old and a 54-year-old -- were taken to a Saskatoon hospital for treatment of undetermined injuries.
The physician, who specialized in cataract and corneal surgeries, had presented papers at conferences in Australia, Italy, Spain and throughout North America.
