Law & Order rips Letterman scandal from headlines
According to Entertainment Weekly, casting directors for the long-running cop/legal drama have begun searching for the right actress to play Letterman's part. Yes, actress: Perhaps in an effort not to be sued, Law & Order has made the role a slightly younger woman.
In the episode, the Letterman-esque part is Vanessa Carville, a female talk show host in her 40s who's carrying on an affair with a co-worker, despite already being married with children. It's not the first time she's mixed business with pleasure, either -- and not just with men. But when the wrong people learn of the affair and try to extort the late-night host for millions of dollars, someone ends up dead.
OK, it's not a perfect adaptation of the Letterman situation, but it's still darned close.
