Boys' boys sing songs for girls, and vice versa, for charity

WINNIPEG'S brush with Broadway is about to take a wider sweep -- with a gender-bending twist.

The stars of The Boys in the Photograph, the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Ben Elton musical currently having its world-premiere run at Manitoba Theatre Centre, will be staging a one-night event this Sunday evening at Prairie Theatre Exchange to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Select members of the all-Canadian cast will lend their vocal talents to a showcase of your favourite Broadway hits, except that the men will perform tunes traditionally sung by women and vice versa.

The event, which starts at 8 p.m. and includes an auction, is being held in support of BC/EFA, the American theatre community's ongoing and committed response to an urgent worldwide health crisis.

Tickets are $15 each and will be sold at the door, beginning at 6 p.m.
