PASADENA, Calif. ---- Canadian actors Michael Hogan, Grace Park and Tricia Helfer cut loose at a post-award reception at the Langham Huntington Hotel after Battlestar Galactica was named Program of the Year at the 25th Annual TV Critics Association awards.

The win was especially heartening because the program was snubbed by the Emmys and relegated to the obscure cable channels ever since it first debuted as a two-part miniseries in December, 2003.

It was, as award presenter Susan Young told the crowd, "The best frakking show on television!" this past year.

That may raise a few eyebrows -- Battlestar prevailed over a list that included The Shield, Saturday Night Live, Lost and last year's Emmy winner Mad Men -- but then Ronald D. Moore's sci-fi allegory was full of surprises during its six-year run.
