OTTAWA -- Actor Paul Gross is donating the $25,000 he received as winner of the 2009 Governor General's Performing Arts Award to a Toronto arts program.

The Remix Project helps young people start careers in the arts.

Gross received the Governor General's Award for his First World War film Passchendaele, which he directed, wrote and starred in.

The actor became involved with The Remix Project last spring.

The program touts itself as an "incubator" for young performers, mentoring them and helping them set goals.
