AFTER the Winnipeg Folk Festival packs up its stages in July, the folky groove will be carried over into the fall by Ani DiFranco and the Cat Empire as part of the ongoing Winnipeg Folk Festival Concert series.

The fiery DiFranco (right) is scheduled to play the Burton Cummings Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $40 (plus fees) at Ticketmaster and the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store.

A party band from Melbourne, Australia, the Cat Empire has been booked at the Garrick Centre on Tuesday, Nov. 24, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $29.50 plus fees, and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster, and 11 a.m. at the Winnipeg Folk Festival Music Store (211 Bannatyne Ave.).
