Eagle emblem returns on Poland football jersey under fan pressure
WARSAW, Poland - Polish football officials say the national emblem of a crowned eagle will be put back on national team jerseys following protests from fans and questions from the president.
The news was announced by Poland Football Association spokeswoman Agnieszka Olejkowska on Wednesday.
She said the association was reversing its decision to replace the national emblem with a less-visible variant of its logo.
The jersey with the logo debuted at a Poland-Italy friendly two weeks ago, prompting displeasure from fans and President Bronislaw Komorowski.
The association cited marketing rights for the change made when ordering jerseys from Nike ahead of Euro 2012, which Poland will co-host with Ukraine.
