'Potted Potter' play gets New York booking after successful Toronto run

TORONTO - "Potted Potter" has been booked for the Big Apple.

Producers say the stage show "Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience — A parody by Dan and Jeff" will fly into New York after wrapping up its successful run in Toronto this week.

The play, which runs down all of J.K. Rowling's beloved "Harry Potter" books in just 70 minutes, began in the U.K. and has also run in Australia and New Zealand.

In February, it made its North American debut at Toronto's Panasonic Theatre, where it was such a hit that its original two-week run was extended through this Sunday.

Written and performed by actors Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, "Potted Potter" also recently landed an Olivier Award nomination for best entertainment and family show.

It will begin performances at the Little Shubert Theatre in New York on May 19.
