Certain Golden Boy brand inshell mixed nuts recalled due to possible salmonella

OTTAWA - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is warning the public not to eat certain Golden Boy brand inshell mixed nuts because they may be contaminated with salmonella.

The affected product has been sold across Canada in 1.36 kilogram mesh bags.

The CFIA says there have been no reported illnesses associated with eating this product.

The packer, Golden Boy Foods Ltd. of Burnaby, B.C. is voluntarily recalling the product from the marketplace and the CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.

Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled.

Eating food contaminated with the bacteria could cause serious infections in young children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
