Winnipeg police set up special tipline for information on accused serial killer

WINNIPEG - Police in Winnipeg have set up a special tipline in the investigation into an accused serial killer.
A toll-free national phone line (1-855-817-4949) has been established to gather information on Shawn Cameron Lamb, 52, who is accused of second-degree murder in the deaths of three women.
"There are indications that Mr. Lamb has travelled extensively throughout Canada, so we're putting a ... number out in the event that someone in a different jurisdiction may have information," Insp. Rick Guyader said Friday.
"We have no direct evidence that Mr. Lamb is responsible for any other crimes of this nature throughout Canada, but ... we're keeping an open mind on that."
Lamb's arrest in June prompted renewed calls from aboriginal leaders for a public inquiry into missing and murdered aboriginal women. His alleged victims were all First Nations women who disappeared over the last year.
The bodies of Carolyn Sinclair, 25, and Lorna Blacksmith, 18, were found wrapped in plastic near garbage bins. The body of Tanya Nepinak, 31, has not been recovered.
Court documents show Lamb has been convicted nearly 100 times for crimes ranging from sexual assault to robbery and fraud, and has lived in at least four provinces over the last 30 years.
The tipline is aimed at getting more information about the three deaths as the case against Lamb goes before the courts. His case was to come up in docket court Friday.
He has not yet entered a plea.
"We want to make sure that we cover all the bases and that we get all the information that pertains to not only these three homicides, but any other homicides that Mr. Lamb may have been involved in," Guyader said.
"I have no new information that he has been involved in any other ones, but we are definitely investigating that possibility."
