Schmirler the curler an inspiration
Among skips at the women's curling event, Great Britain's Fiona Macdonald, Germany's Karin Fischer and Switzerland's Tanya Frei all list the late Sandra Schmirler, the 1998 Olympic gold medallist, as the person they most admire. Sweden's Anders Kraupp, meantime, most admires Goran Kropp who -- get this -- cycled from Sweden to the Himalayas, climbed Mount Everest without oxygen and then cycled home.
