Winnipeg Free Press - PRINT EDITION
Letter of the day
Is it me, my age or the weather? I am really missing the old kind of sitcoms we had way back when -- the kind that you waited for just to unwind and have a really good laugh. Now all you can wait for is another reality show, competition show (take you pick of whatever "Idol" show is on), or money-making game show with assorted smiling women on the sidelines.
I guess I have to use the baby boomer trump card again, but in the 1960s, '70s and '80s, the shows were so funny and cutting edge -- All in the Family, M*A*S*H, Cheers, etc. I don't know about the rest of the populace, but, I rarely watch TV and I usually have it on as background sound. Does anyone read the TV listings anymore? I use mine to wrap kitchen waste, and there is where the future of TV is headed as well.
