Man shot by Mountie charged
RCMP say Merle Thomas was shot when he allegedly pointed a gun at officers who were investigating a report of gunshots being fired in the community.
Thomas was arrested and taken to the community's nursing station. He was later flown to Winnipeg for treatment in a city hospital. He is in stable condition.
Thomas is charged with pointing a firearm and possession of a firearm dangerous to the public peace.
At the time he was prohibited from possessing firearms, RCMP said.
